The Railway Forum

I posted my questions on the Rail Appreciation forum today and have already had a few replies.
They're really sweet and helpful and I'm quite looking forward to some more replies.
I'm going to base images around some of their answers I think.

Also, one of the members was kind enough to post a picture of him and his brother trainspotting when they were young, just for me. Lovely!

Trainspotter Spotting Fail..

So as I said I've wanted to draw the trainspotters at Clapham for ages and this project means that finally I can do it.
So after doing a few drawings from google searches I decided I needed to get my own source material and maybe even brave the rain and do some observation drawings.
And they've all vanished.
I haven't seen any in a few days.
I'm going to post my questions on the rail appreciation forum later and hopefully get some good stories and facts etc. I hope they are nice.

New project..

I am doing it on trainspotting... okay?
Those up there are pictures of some trainspotters. I don't like them much.
I joined a trainspotting forum so I could nose around at the pictures.
Trying to muster the courage to ask them questions about their hobby and that.
Sorry for the broken sentences. I have been at work. Tired.

On another note I just discovered some amazing work by Stephanie Kubo:

Would have been great research for my Katie colouring book.
Here is her blog, it's very lovely: http://stepheekubo.blogspot.com/

Gordon

There's a lot more colour in this but my scanner decided to make it all yellow.
I'm not sure about this idea now.....

New Project then...

Still not sure what I want to do.
I've decided that it's going to be portraits though.
The amaaazing portraits above are by Michael Gillette who I found on the 'It's Nice That' site.

Still stuck on how to theme the portraits. My first idea was to draw people from 'Come Dine With Me', they really do choose the strangest and most aesthetically interesting looking people ever (by this I really do mean a little bit on the uggo side).
My favourites are the man with one and a half eyes who embalmed his own mother and the old woman Val who looks like a piranha and had the best and most perverse voice ever.
I want to draw them and take note of the ridiculous things they say and what they cooked etc.
I'm not really sure how I can keep it interesting though so I may have to abandon it.

Hmm

My tattoo still hasn't healed but I won't panic just yet.
Very stuck on the new brief, which is just another open one.
I think it's the idea of having to put my work into context.
I keep finding I had ideas I think could work really well as projects but then I have to abandon then because they have no useful... use.
I don't like being a third year..

27 Summer Project

If I had more time there are things I'd change/do differently but I am working all day tomorrow so this will have to be it for now. Eek.

26 Summer Project

I went to the Saatchi gallery yesterday.
I don't know how I'm going to stretch 'disappointing and a little bit shit' to 500 words for the report.
I probably sound extremely ignorant but I just didn't get any of it.
I enjoyed the Haunch of Venison so much so it was a bit disappointing to then go on to Saatchi where I feel a lot of it seems to be art for arts sake.
But that's just my opinion.
I was really happy to see the oil room's back though.
I went to see it when Saatchi used to be on Southbank, though it was a lot more fun when you could walk up the metal gangway and sort of stand in a room full of oil...

25 Summer Project

Bon!

The white makes the page look a little less cramped and ties in with the polka dot bras.
Much better I think

24 Summer Project

It's looking nice and tacky and I like the 'KATIE!' lettering but the top letters look terrible.
Will try drawing them in the same way as the others.
It's all looking quite simple and children's book illustration-y. It's starting to remind me of the front covers of Jacqueline Wilson books which is a good thing seeing as it's supposed to be a clash of childrens media and skanky Jordan.

Still not right...

23 Summer Project

Not finished, just looking at different colours and such.
I'd like it to be as garish and sickly as possible..

22 Summer Project

Trying to colour for the front cover.

21 Summer Project

Last inside page! Just need to add text and do the front cover.

Also I just found this on 'Another Magazine' website:

Just absolutely loved the images, especially this one:

Listed

My t-shirts are now up for sale on both of my shops:

Just bought a new screen so a new design might be on its way if I can get this ruddy bloody summer project out of my face.
I am enjoying my weekend off work.
I can stay up late and everything, jeepers.

20 Summer Project

This is more relevant to the other images in the series.
But I still prefer my accidental one.
I don't think I can get away with putting it in with the others...
...or can I?
Which is better???

T-shirts

Will be on my shop soon..

19 Summer Project

This was an accident, but I quite like it.

I've been drawing pencil sharpenings..

16 Summer Project

Working on an image for the quote in which Jordan talks about how some people are famous for inventing the pencil sharpener and she is famous for her "tits".
Not gonna lie, searching for topless Jordan pictures with safe mode off on google was pretty grim..
I was wondering whether to include the face or not, I'm planning to have a border of pencil sharpeners and for some reason I really like the idea of this topless and headless lady being surrounding by pencil sharpeners.
Still going for the inappropriate angle and I feel like having this as an incomplete image is more so than with a head?
I don't know, will draw the rest and decide...

P.S. Today I received a big box of plain white fruit of the loom t-shirts.

15 Summer Project

Not sure this will go well with the others seeing as she's not surrounded by any sort of border.
Here's a rough idea of how to make it fit in a bit more:

It's not great... might make the 'bubbles' gradually get bigger...
