No work and no prints so far due to tube strikes/snow/terrible tutors etc etc

Ridiculous day

As some of you know, I don't live on campus or anywhere near it.

It takes me roughly an hour and a half to get in to Harrow from Raynes Park.

Today I had a dissertation meeting at 10.30, came all the way in, all the way to M block to find a note on my tutors door saying she wasn't in today. THANKS.

Decided it was okay because I had lots of printing to do after my SUPER PRODUCTIVE day of printing negatives, screen wiping and screen washing yesterday.

I'd left everything with the print technician who said he'd expose all 9 of my pages onto all 5 of my screens for today.

Went in and found that someone had left their treated screens on the shelf above mine in the dark room and it had all dripped and taken off the emulsion. So no printing today.

Rant over. Going to print some t-shirts and bags now I'm home and warm.

Also here is the proof that I have been int he print room doing things.. one of five ruined screens!!

Prep prep prep

Typography..ish

I feel like one of the things that let down some of my images is the text.

I find it really difficult to come up with different ways to draw letters.

Simone also told me it wasn't always clear who exactly is talking in some of my images so I thought about giving them a bit more character and playing around with speech bubbles/marks etc. though I haven't gotten too far yet because this one took ages to fill in...

I tried straightening it out with photoshop but I don't know if it looks as nice..

But yeah, not the most adventurous of tests but I'll keep trying, people in my class like Jon Bliss make me feel guilty for not using more interesting typography... Tsch.

Make Shift Zine

For my super quick zine I just used the 'negatives' that I didn't need for printing anymore and a few extra print outs.

I'm not a massive collage person, I find it difficult to plan it - far too messy.

But it was quite fun and I was surprised that it worked as well as it did.

Everyone seems to think it's better than what I've been planning to do but for my final piece I want to make something that I can make tonnes and tonnes of and printing would be perfect.

Might end up customising them and printing everything on different paper to make them all a bit different..

Wednesday sessions

Today we had to make a zine in the space of 4 hours which I was a bit annoyed about seeing as I was already making one for my final piece but it actually turned out quite well.

Will scan pages in later.

Steve and Dave have put together a blog for our class, couldn't actually believe how polished some people's final zines looked. Jealous:

Fiddle Sticks

I was told I didn't have enough images and I was very far from being ready to print.
Need to illustrate more quotes and make some of the other images more relevant.

I feel I should start drawing things for the sake of drawing more.

I am sadly sitting here awaiting 'Animal Madhouse' to start on Channel 4.

It looks like a more up to date and less depressing version of Animal Hospital. EXCITED.

I'm pretty excited for a couple of things this month:

9 days til I start my birthday celebrations

10 days til my birthdaaay

I had lost my voice but it's coming back.

At home listening to the Amelie soundtrack (mmm) and trying to get all the final parts of the zine done..

The close up image was more of a mistake but I quite like it, breaks up the layout pattern, I don't want it to be too repetitive. But I don't know....
