19 More Dolls (Self Defined)

Finding this one really difficult. I think it's just a case of redoing it over and over...
Hmm..
Might add colour

18 (Self Defined)

This one is a lot clearer than the last one.. I don't have much to say about it..
There are still a few gaps in my final ones. Hoping to get them all done this weekend if only just in roughs.
Trying to draw the 'dolls' one out but I am crap at drawing cars.

17 Dolls (Self Defined)

'The pink doll-faces of upper-class woman gazed at him through the car window'

Obviously this isn't my final image but this is what's been in my head for this quote.. roughly.
I decided to use blow up doll faces rather than some sort of porcelain doll because I thought it was more fitting seeing as Gordon is a bit of a perv and is always leering at the women he sees in the street.

P.S.

Currently posting this everywhere.
I am very excited to go. Hopefully I will go..

16 Grey at night (Self Defined)

This is a newer image for 'at night all cats are grey'.
I prefer this one to the other, I didn't want to have a square black image as it's supposed to be an illustration in a book. I thought painting black ink and scanning it in would be a lot better.
Having trouble trying to blend the top of the ladies but I'm pretty happy.

15 Aspidistra (Self Defined)

'The aspidstra, flower of England! It ought to be on our coat of arms instead of the lion and the unicorn'

14 (Self Defined)

Still working on Walter. I needed more detail and shading etc so I looked up some old 1930's portraits. Also did the background and made him look a little more finished. I think it looks a little more like a photo portrait now rather than just a drawing.. if that makes sense.
(Below are examples of my portrait research, the first one is so creepy)

Need to start speeding up and getting all my roughs done, I drew out nearly all my composition ideas which I might scan but I hate putting rough work on here.
I've changed my idea for the garter quote because I wanted to use those saucy legs for the cat quote. I prefer the lady in the gin glass but still not sure about it as a final. I might do something which shows his 'beer goggles' or whatever the phrase is seeing as prostitutes back then would have been a lot more skanky and a lot less saucy. Maybe?

New Bag

I need to start putting more stuff on my Etsy but since all my other bags are in for assessment for like a year that means I must paint lots and lots.
I am sticking to what I know until I have the time to think of something different.

13 50 Jars (Self Defined)

"Those forty or fifty drab, dead little poems, each like a little abortion in its labelled jar"

Just a first draft, bit boring..

Dear Spring, you are giving me severe hayfever.

The ink has seeped through two pages.
Lesson learnt.

I might buy a new sketch book for Hong Kong.
Like a travel journal/sketch book type thing.

Eighty??

As of just now I have 80 followers.
I'm not sure why there are so many of you, but I like it. So thank you :)

About to draw in the first page of my very large moleskin sk.book. Scared.

12 More Walter (Self Defined)

Annoying that my scanner cut off the frame.
Not sure about this image, might help if I colour the background.
Going to try and redraw a few times and see what happens.

11 One Down..sort of (Self Defined)

This is my first final image out of...nine (Sorry for the poor quality I took it on my phone). It's been suggested I add a pole to the top to see what they're hanging from but at the moment I like them how they are..

I'm going to go back to Uncle Walter now. I think if I'm going to do a portrait image it should look more finish so I will be looking at drawing some sort of frame or border around it. This idea makes me think of Lizzy Stewart (her images below). I love love love how she makes her work look more finished with decorative borders and such. I want to buy her bear but it's a bit expense..

10 Market (Self Defined)

So it's a lot easier to make rabbits look dead when they're hanging from a ceiling.. and is probably how they were set out in the market anyways.
I want to include the 'bare electric bulbs' he describes but this idea doesn't really work.

I've started looking into getting some of my work glicée printed and having trouble thinking of which images to get quotes with. Any ideas? Thanks!

9 Pig (Self Defined)

I want to add a lot more to this but I need to have a think..
Not sure how to make any of my work more interesting.
I want to read the book again but I don't think I have enough time.

P.S. I am on my second episode of the day of 'One Born Every Minute'. Definitely no babies thanks.

8 Lapin (Self Defined)

Finding it difficult to make rabbits look dead..

&

Here is a pug I painted on a bag for Lady Eloise.
Taken on my phone so it looks a bit dingey.. She enjoys it though

Fail day

Shoe shops are hazardous.
I am not enjoying this weird hicky looking bruise/cut.

Currently painting rabbits so that will be up later.
I found these guys on spotify and am trying to decide if they're good or terrible..

7 Rabbits (Self Defined)

In the book he describes a market with bare electric bulbs and rabbits.. and eels.
It is difficult to draw rabbits and make them look dead.. googling 'dead rabbits' was not a treat.
With the first image I want to layer the bottom rabbit to make them look all..heaped like fruit at a market stall.. but rabbits.
Going to have a go at water colour again... been a bit inspired by this person.

Look at 'free work' in the illustration bit. LOVE it.

6 'At night all cats are grey' (Self defined)

I want to do more on photoshop but my computer is having a tantrum...
